No need to update your calendars

I called the Dr. and to reschedule my induction for Wednesday, 7/13 and can't do it. My doctor was fine with it, they called the hospital to schedule it and the hospital is "booked" for Wednesday. And they are actually booked for the rest of the week. I don't want to wait until the FOLLOWING week so we're leaving it for 7/11. Apparently hospitals (or our hospital) only schedule so many inductions because of space limitations which is understandable. They need beds for c-sections and the people that come in naturally so I can't expect them to accomodate any wish I have. And even if I happened to have been able to think clearly yesterday and request Wednesday up front, they were probably booked by then anyway. I'm a little relieved because I hated the pressure of picking a date. The less options I have the less I feel I'm going to make a bad choice. Plus my doctor had a c-section scheduled for Wednesday already so since I'm going to be induced they would have no idea when I'd actually deliver and there could be a chance that he'd be in the middle of a c-section and not be able to deliver my baby. We can still run into this scenario but it's not like it's already a scheduled possibility.

My body still has 5 days to get it's shit together and go with no intervention. The only downfall with Monday is I couldn't spare the baby a lifetime of lame "we bought you at the 7-11" jokes from his father that Bryan already threatened with (and I bet Bryan's dad would come up with the same witty jokes).

I was spotting last night which I'm assuming is a result of my exam, painful exam that is. Or maybe it's my "bloody show" but that supposedly is from your cervix dilating which mine probably isn't doing so I'm going with the fact he tried to use the jaws of life on my cervix yesterday. I also had 2 painful contractions. PAINFUL! They weren't super close together and I had many other contractions but I think I'd only consider 2 of them to be painful. They even hurt my hiney hole. I'm really hopeful for something to happen within the next 5 days.

I am sooooo fucking tired though. I fell asleep about midnight. I woke up at 3am from nightmares because we watched that old-ish Johnny Depp movie about Jack the Ripper, "From Hell." Once I woke up at 3, I started thinking too much, then had my contractions and really started thinking. I just couldn't go back to sleep and finally got out of bed at 4am. I forced myself to go back at 6am once I heard the birds starting to chirp and eventually fell asleep at 7am only to wake up at 8am with Bryan. So pretty sleep deprived right about now! I hope this sleeping pattern doesn't continue until the baby is born because we all know what kind of sleep I'll be getting after he's here!

I'm looking forward to revealing the name also. But I'm kind of afraid it's going to be a big let down because we've kept it a secret the entire time that people are probably going to expect something amazing. We obviously like it but there has been such a build up over it, I'm kind of nervous! Oh yeah, and I'm nervous about shooting a baby out my vag. We've been slacking on the perenium stretches!!

Sounds like things are moving along to me... (although what do I know???) :o) And now the pressure is off either way. Stretch baby, stretch!!!

well, I'm excited to find out the name and see the little guy! I hope you all the best with your induction. My only bit of advice for the whole hospital stay - don't let them bully you into ANYTHING. Before you have the baby they'll try and force all kinds of things on you.

After, they'll try to do all kind of things to your baby. It's YOUR baby, only let them do what you're ok with. and don't let the nurses get your freaked out if the baby goes a bit without nursing. Geeze, he just made the hugest trip of his life, let him rest a little, ya know?

You'll be brand new at everything, but trust yourself, you can take care of him better than anyone else can.

I'm excited!!!!

I agree with the pressure of choosing your baby's birthday! I wanted nothing to do with it! I actually amde the nurse pick a day (and then went into labor on my own the next day!).
Not to get your hopes up or anything, BUT I had an internal, wasn't dilated, etc., scheduled an induction for the following week, had some spotting, a few big contractions really far apart, and then a baby 2 days later!
Wishing you the best of luck and can't wait to hear what you are naming him! I admit it was a letdown after keeping it a secret for so long, but nothing in the grand scheme of things! I think the disappointment is from the fact that my dad thought it was Bryan, not Ryan and my grandma told everyone we named him Myron!

I can't wait to hear the name! Anything will be great, no matter how "lame" or whatever anyone thinks! That is one of the best parts about planning for a baby (although some people don't think that is their name for the rest of their life (i.e. some of those celeb babies).
I was induced for all 3, it is some fun I tell ya. Actually it wasn't that bad! You never know you may end up getting bumped if they become too busy with in labor ladies anyways (would take care of the 7/11 bday!).
I can't wait for you to have this little guy!

You are doing fabulously, mama. No worries. All will work out as it should and that's all you need to know right now. Your baby will come and meet you soon and we'll get to hear the name and we'll all go "oooooo, that's brilliant!"

It's all good, babe. :)

Oh I hear that, the night we had our first, by induction the place was packed. Yeah I spotted after the doctor did that exam on me. I mean I went from 1cm to 3cm when he was done.Sounds like you are really close. :)

I am so excited for you. Take advantage of the TLC in the hospital after the baby is born. Make those nurses get you all the food you want and let people shower you with stuff - and love, of course. It is a very special time.

Hopefully the Jaws of Life started some dilation! I want to cry just thinking about the morning I was induced and how the dr. tried to "strip my membranes." If they say those three words to you- DEMAND STADOL, DEMEROL, or FENTANYL first. Do you hear me? I'm so not even kidding. I thought his hand was going to come out my throat. :P

Yay, I can't wait to hear the name. I'm so envious of people who are able to keep secrets. We were able to keep Brody's name a secret until I went into the hospital with an abruption (22 1/3) weeks and we thought we'd lose him. So we spilled the beans.

Anyway... congrats... I can't wait till the 11th! I'll be thinking of you!!

Oh... are they having you come in the night before for Cervadil or Prostin gel?

Kate - I'm not scheduled to have anything like that the night before. He mentioned doing something to ripen my cervix the night before but then just told me to come in Monday and they'll start the pitocin. But now I'm wondering...maybe I should call and ask? Those are used to induce labor right? Guess they wouldn't use that AND pitocin or would they? Maybe I'll call...

and thanks for thinking of me everyone, I'm so excited and nervous!

Hi! Not sure where you'll be delivering at, but I delivered at U of MD and believe me..you don't want to deliver on a "busy" night!! I shared a triage room with a heroin addict and ended up delivering in a tiny room that wouldn't fit much more than myseld, my husband and the doctor!
