Going out with a bang

A big, fat, gluttonous bang. We just got back from the grocery store and it wasn't until we were checking out that I realized I didn't buy any food for myself. Bryan and I generally eat 2 completely different diets (his diet: seafood, lean meats, low carbs) so he gets his stuff and I'm responsible for getting mine. There are only a few things we actually share. So once I saw the ice cream, cookies, chips, etc (my diet) going by on the belt I realized that was pretty much all I had picked out. Nothing I would consider real food, nothing for an actual meal.

I'm looking at this as my last hoorah. I was buying shit I refrained from my entire pregnancy. Yes, despite my double wide ass and 60 pound weight gain, there were a FEW things I actually said no to. Like the Easy Cheese in a can. That's some good shit! Not good for you but damn good. And in the last 15 years I've probably had it once but suddenly my appetite returned to my juvenile years once I became pregnant. And I'm sure I've eaten worse stuff during my pregnancy but I know when it's something that once I start to eat, I won't be able to stop which is why I've waited, until now, to indulge in my canned cheese fantasies.

Hey man, after Monday and when there is no more "pregnant belly" to blame my size on, just the excess flab and skin, I'm not going to be able to enjoy this food any more. So this weekend it's all about complete gluttony. My goal was to not gain more than 60 lbs. Well that's what my goal was once I realized I would far surpass the recommended goal of 25-35 lbs. Once I hit 30 lbs at the half way point, I knew I needed a new goal in mind.

And guess what? At my appointment Tuesday I had gained a total of 59 lbs. 1 POUND UNDER MY GOAL WEIGHT GAIN. WOOO HOOO. That's the last time I'm going to be weighed too, if all goes as planned on Monday. Yeah there is still 4 more days for me to be gaining weight in my pregnancy but no scale = NO PROOF! As far as I'm concerned my last pregnancy weight gain was 59 pounds and that's what I'm sticking too damnit!

You actually get 9 months after the baby is born since that is how long it took to gain it all! Ok that's my theory and I truely enjoy it!

I miss my 3 peanut butter sandwiches a day, and I think my dog does to (since he got to lick the spoon).
Anyway, I ate like it was going out of style when I was pregnant and I was really scared that the constant hunger wouldn't go away, but it did eventually! Now I just dream about those PB sandwiches!!!

Cara - Just remember that you are getting the most wonderful little thing out of all of the food cravings and weight gain. If it feels good, then do it! Your body will get back into sync when its time too. So, best of luck to you and Bryan. I can't wait to see him!

HEHEHE good thinking! I said the same thing. It's the only time in your life you can gain as much weight as you want and no one can say a damn thing about it. Have a good weekend!

Enjoy your last few days of pregnancy! You can probably count on losing 25-30 of those pounds immediately after your baby is born. And nursing helps you to lose weigh too! It burns an extra 500 calories a day :D My bet is that you'll be ravenous after you have him -- labor, delivery and nursing tend to make you kinda hungry, LOL!

i have one rule while pregnant: eat what your body tells to eat and or not eat. with my first i ate...all fat, all the time. i would have four meals bhy noon. with my second i was sick as a dog and ate very little for months. i gained the exact same amount of weight with both (35-40).

so you go on girl, eat eat eat. your body knows what it needs and if it says easy cheese, you give it easy cheese and smile!

Hey, good news... a lot of times you LOSE a few pounds in the last few days before delivery. So, if you're feeling brave, step on the scale the morning of your induction. You might be down to 155-ish. :)
