OB appointment at 37 weeks and 5 days

Blood pressure - too high! They took it at the beginning of the appointment and it was elevated. But after the appointment they had me lay down on my left side and rechecked it and it was down in the normal range again.
Urine - OK
Weight - who is really keeping track anyway ;)
Baby's Heart Rate - OK
Measurement - 41
Dilated - 0 cm - I even got a "you are very closed"
Station - still -2 (last week was also -2)

Well, like they say first time moms typically go past their due date. But you know the OB expert at the grocery store who must moonlight as a cashier says it looks like I've dropped. Funny how she knows considering she's NEVER SEEN ME BEFORE. Oh experts wherever you turn. I can tell you, I don't look like I've dropped at all, he's still sitting right where he's been the last few months. And my nice little internal exam proves that.

I think I'm feeding the baby too good in there. Why come out when he can eat all the Oreos he wants when he knows it'll be a good couple years before he ever gets any on the outside! I must say I'm generally pretty bummed after these appointments but then it fades away and I'm content. But then before I know it another appointment to get bummed all over again!

I'm really not that discouraged, as we know plenty of people weren't dilated one minute and then are delivering the next. I'm just kind of ready for the next chapter. I always get "Oh you must be dying in this heat." Not really, that's the beauty of A/C. Even Bryan and I go for walks and eat outside, I think this is the perfect time of year to have a baby! Bryan is more uncomfortable than I am!

All in all, no signs of delivery nearing but anything can happen!

Doc didn't give you any tips on how to go into labor lol. Mine told me nipple stimulation, and various other things lol. Sex was just plain uncomfy with the second one so that wasn't an option. Walking is also a good way to bring it on.

This whole patience thing is rough, I know, but if we made it through the getting pregnant part, we can get thru this too! Remember how we had to wait another 4 weeks to take that PG test? Well, the good news is that you have half that time now -- at the most. Hang in there! We're praying for you!
XOXO Lisa and Baby B. :o) XOXO

WALK! Walk as much as you can. I went from nothing to a two over a weekend because I spent it walking. But that didn't matter because I was induced. infact iwas induced at 37 weeks and 5 days. So you would be having him today. Yeah, like you want to hear that. Sorry I said it.
I pray you'll go early and not late.

oh i know! It was the same exact way with Lily; I thought dilation was a ride at disneyworld. I know you get tired of hearing it but it's all going to happen rather quickly and most likely not when you expect it. Then all at once you are going to have a gorgeous baby boy to tug around. It will be amazing.

I tried everything - walking, spicy foods, nipple stimulation, sex (that was like a circus freak show!), NADA! The little one will come when he comes.
Oh and as for not being dilated at all - I was "completely closed" without baby's head being engaged and had him the next day. Stranger things can happen!
Good luck and I hope your legs allow you to rest!

nothing worked for me. nothing. i think mia knew that once she came out there wouldn't be anymore ice cream. 2 inductions and a vacuum later she finally gave in (at 43 weeks). i think she'd still be in there if i let her...it's good to know i made such a happy home for her, though!

he'll be here before you know it and you won't remember not having him. i'm so excited for you!!

With all 3 of mine I went almost 2 weeks over (except Ry only because my doc was leaving - she was only 4 days). It sucks and I was induced all 3 times - but I had quick & easy (oxymoron there) labors. Like you said you could go at any minute! Just hang in there, REST, and soon enough your life will change! Just remember that eventually he WILL come out!

Here's something for you Cara. It's a recipe for Eggplant Parmesan that Scalini's restaurant in Georgia GUARANTEES to induce labor within 48 hours of eating it. Of course, you have to be at your due date.

I made this when I was pregnant with #3. And sure enough, I had her within the 48 hour time frame! (She came on her due date. Her brothers were born 6 days and 9 days early so you can see why when I was still pg on my due date I pulled out the big guns, LOL).

And it's good too!

That note about the cashier telling you it looks like the baby dropped is cracking me up! When I was pg with Phoebe, I used to have random strangers come up to me trying to convince me that I was having a boy based on how I was carrying. Nope, they wouldn't relent, even when I told them I'd seen the baby's VA-GI-NA.

*rolls eyes* People are weird.

OMG Carol you shouldn't have told me yet, you KNOW I'm going to the store tonight to buy ingredients!! I know I'm still far from my due date but can you imagine how freaked out I'd be if I actually delivered within 48 hours. Aaaaaand that would put me right at my goal of 7/1! Can't hurt, right? And I can try it again if my due date comes and goes, you know I'll try anything at that point! Fine...maybe I should wait for my due date like you said but now that I read the recipe I could go for some eggplant parm anyway!

And thanks everyone for keeping me sane and thinking about me!

hahaha about the experts!!
when you've dropped you will KNOW it. all of the sudden you can breathe again! and you can eat a normal amount at once. it feels so good!(except on the hip-lol!)
I carried low though, and dropped at 35 weeks(my bod must have known I wouldn't go to term-haha!)
Love the experts, to funny. people are retarded.
