I try not to get preachy...

but don't always succeed. If you are pregnant DO NOT FUCKING SMOKE. Yes I will think you are a very selfish, ghetto-ass woman who is not ready to have a child.

I used to smoke and quit over 5 years ago. I know it's hard to quit and if your pregnancy is unplanned then you're pretty much forced to do cold-turkey which is also hard. And pregnancy can be stressful adding to the difficulty of quiting but you know what? TOO FUCKING BAD. You are a mom now and it's time to put your child before your bad habits.

(This is what I wanted to say to that girl I saw today)

GIRL I so agree with you. As soon as I found out I was pregnant I quit. I saw a women the other day (shit maybe it was the same one you saw) looked to be at least 7 to 8 months along smoking like it was nothing. MAKES ME SICK!

Agreed - the day I found out (I was so early pregnant I had a breakdown mass confessional to my obgyn about every chemical that had gone into my body and was assured the baby wasn't yet attached.. or something. Glad I told him all THAT) Anyway - went out, smoked my last clove and threw the pack over the balcony. Yes, I littered, but it was symbolic.. and it went onto a bar patio - so whatever.

Preach on, mama.

I would also like to add that if you have a baby already, don't smoke in the house or in your car. The other day I was stopped at an intersection and i saw a lady with the windows rolled up smoking with her two little kids in car seats in the back.

amen! the other day i watched a pregnant woman have 2 cigarettes and down a coke while i sat at a red light. what in the hell is wrong with these women?!

and i once lost in on a woman (before i had a baby to influence with my screaming) who had her toddler in the backseat of her car and was smoking (along with the passenger) with the windows rolled up!

Ugh. This is one of my biggest pet peeves too. This and kids bouncing around in cars. No car seats and sure as hell not even buckled in either. It's epidemic in Utah. Drives me batshit!

Yeah, I hate that! When I was pregnant, I saw this girl sitting outside the OB-GYN's office taking L-O-N-G drags. I just looked at her in disgust. I mean, if she was smoking while preggo, she probably wouldn't have minded kicking my ass! lol She just had that look about her...........

WHY? Why do people do that??? a girl who works for Rob got oregnant the same time I did and said to another co-worker that her doctor told her not to give up smoking and caffeine right away, but to try and wean herself from it. And by that she took it to mean continuing smoking the entire time AND consuming 6-12 cans of diet coke a day. Now I had an occasional caffinated beverage, but that is enough caffeine and nutrasweet to choke a horse!

Getting pregnant was the only way I could quit! Pop & caffine on the other hand is my one addiction I can never give up (although when pregnant I did switch to caffine free!)

I had to buy a pack of cigarettes for someone on the way to their house for them a few weeks ago and I was SO PARANOID that the people around me were going to think that they were for me, because that shit is just WRONG.

It sounds like all of you have a least a good sensible head on your shoulders. How selfish that a woman could smoke while she is pregnant or even after with an infant or child of any age, in her car. I agree. Scarey. But, there's a lot of that going on.

i so agree with you. I remember April 20, 1998 like it was yesterday, I got up grabbed my cup off coffee, and pack of smokes went to the garage (hubs didn't allow smokin in the house) smoked a cig and then went in and took a pregnancy test and positive so I went back and grabbed that pack of cigarettes, put them up in the cabinet in teh garage and that's where they stayed. I had smoked my last smoke. I still have that pack too. Brought it with me when we moved. lol Its a reminder of a bad habit that I will not take up again.
