Time to come squeaky clean

I have a confession. I've deliberately neglected to tell you all something. As I soaked in my hot bubble bath (a guilty pleasure since pregnancy) just now, I couldn't ignore it any longer.

I have stretch marks.

I know, I've bragged and bragged all the way up to my delivery about how I was stretch mark free. And I was, that was the truth. But since I've delivered and been losing weight, they are rearing their ugly little heads. I noticed one on my thigh while bathing a while back and couldn't believe it. What's really bad is they are not on my stomach where I'd wear them as a badge of honor for creating a life. Instead they are on my lower half as a result of my excessive 60lb (59!) weight gain which had nothing to do with carrying a child. I told Bryan I thought I had a stretch mark and as I'm showing him the front of my thigh he says "Oh yea I know. They are on your ass too."

Damn that otherside of me I forgot to look at!

Oh No, he just had to tell you that didn't he. Ugh I hate mine but hey I got them for a really good cause. I wouldn't give up my kids for nothing and they drive me nuts at times lol.

Congratulations! I made it through my pregnancy with Emily stretchmark free (granted I only got to 32 weeks), and got to 35 weeks with Ava before they popped up on my hips and thighs. I figured it was my punishment for having bragged all that time about how I never got them with Emily! 5 months after giving birth, though, the thigh ones are barely noticeable and the hip ones are fading. I also bought a scar cream hoping that'll help (i.e. Mederma). Don't fret, I'm sure they'll fade over time.

I'm sure you'll hear this a lot, but I was totally stretch mark free for my first 32 weeks of first preggers-ness- (My mom only ever got two, so that was what I was expecting,) but no- they came a creeping all the way past my belly button- and did worse with the second. I like what you say though "wearing them as a badge of honor for creating a life." I'm not embarrassed anymore- I'll wear my bikini whenever the hell I want! Woo hoo!

I have them all over my once life-giving breasts. I guess that's the price I paid for having luscious boobs!

Love honest husbands. When I told mine I wanted some surgery for my now saggier boobs, he said, "I would totally pay for that."

Thanks.

Hi. I just found your blog via wannabe hippie & it's so much fun to read! Your son is adorable. And I totally hear you with the stretch mark thing, girly. I was exactly the same. None that I could see until AFTER I delivered & got into shape, and then there they were like tiny silver rivers running up the side of my belly. :)

Bless God I was spared the stretch marks! My friends all swear by Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula for them - give it a try.

I wasn't so lucky in the breast department - silly me I thought mine were too small to ever sag. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Truly a sad sight!

Gotta love these babies and what we go through for them. I KNOW I was a perfect ten before I had her . . . :)

I went through my whole pregnancy thinking I too was stretch mark free but when that baby came out, there they were on the under side of the once pregnant belly. 14 months later, I can't see them anymore but we are on round 2 so we'll see. My boobs had huge stretch marks on them and my husband is also willing to pay for perkier breasts when we are done having kids!

I love your blog and read it daily! I started right before J was born and I have loved reading all your new mom thoughts. They brought back a lot of memories. But you are a way better mom with the breastfeeding and bloody stools, I would have asked the doctor which formula he recommends! Keep up the good work, your baby is adorable!

Hola! I just found your blog and am so excited. For two reasons. One- I want a cute lil baby like yours.
Two- I'm moving from Los Angeles to Baltimore in 3 weeks!!!! I've never been before. Very excited.

If you have any advice on living in B-more please leave a comment on my blog (or email me).

I got some too - but whatcha gonna do??? I guess I could rip off my skin, but I'm just too damned tired.

p.s. - I bragged about being "stretch mark free" too - until I lost the weight. Damn those pounds hide some stuff, huh? :)

welcome to the club, sister. at least you didn't get them at the age of 11, like i did when i went through a 6-inch growth spurt! they DO fade, but they still suck, & i feel for 'ya.

You are one LUCKY chic (oh wait that's EVERYONE before me!) to have a few.

With B I got them from mid thigh all the way to the boobs (really bad too like 2 inch wide ones). I don't really mind them now but then - totally hated them.

I found your site through Amalah's comments section. I am loving your baby pics! Your son is beyond cute with all of those funny faces he makes!

I haven't had any stretch marks so far (I'm 36 weeks) except for tiny ones on my sides that I don't really care about. I do have some battle wounds on my ass and thighs from puberty though, so I'm the opposite of you-- I don't care about that area cause I'm used to it, but I will cry when/if I see them on my stomach.

Oh, my stretch marks faded so quickly with Aidie. Now I have a few more (post 9 weeks now) and they're already starting to fade a little bit. One day you'll look down and they'll be so clear they'll essentially be gone.

A lot of women swear by Shae butter or Cocoa butter to diminish stretch marks. Even if it doesn't work, it smells wicked nice.

Didnt get them the first time, and thought I was gonna get away with it the 2nd, and I was wrong! I discovered them while taking a front belly picture! Now? they are all silvery and barely noticable. They feel gross though. haha I am sure they will get longer with a #3. haha badges of honor..I just keep telling myself that..haha
