Call the plumber

I've sprung a leak. Two actually, one on the left and one on the right. Yup, from the boobies incase you haven't figured it out. It's nothing new, they've been leaking since my son's food source came in but I've grown tired of it. Does it stop? I mean I know the milk will be there as long as I allow but does the leak on demand thing end? I think about J, I leak. I hear J cry, I leak. It gets to be close to one of his usual feeding times, I leak. I stare at them long enough, I leak. The wind blows, I leak. It's getting pretty uncomfortable with my nipples sitting in a soaken tit-pad all day. I rather not wear the pads at all, that is until Pepper came to visit and not-at-all subtle pointed at my boobs laughing as it leaked through my shirt. Thanks Pep.

I went to Motherhood Maternity yesterday to get more nursing gear and as I'm about to try on a bra the flood gates open. So there I am leaning over and creating nice milk puddles on their floor. I didn't want to catch it in my pads because then I have the whole wet pad issue. I couldn't, with a clear concious, put on one of their bras to soak it up because, well that's just gross for the next person and hell if I want to buy a bra that's already soaked in boob milk even if it's my own. I tried to pinch it off, not so smart, the nipple stimulation only encouraged more leakage. Two puddles later, I exit the store...quickly.

i don't want to make you feel bad - it does get better after about 2 months, but i was still quite a gushing leaky mess for many months afterward.
I wore a lot of wool sweaters - I was lucky... it was mostly winter when I was leaky.
hopefully your let down will let up soon :)

So you were the one! I knew those puddles had a suspicious milky sheen.

I ruined many a T-shirt with the leaky boobs. It does go away. For me, it was around 2 months.

How long you'll leak for is totally unique to each nursing mother. With this last nursling I leaked well into my 8th or 9th month of nursing. And then once, about a month ago I leaked once again. However, I do have a solution for you. They're called LilyPadz. http://www.lilypadz.com. They're little silicone disks that basically adhere to your breast. They stop the leaking by depressing your nipple. They're fantastic!

Mine went away around 2months also. I can suggest those Lily Padz for night time and what not. I personally HATE wearing a bra (although I need to all the time)those worked awesome at night. Also - I went for the cheap 10 pack by gerber reusable bra pads. MUCH cheaper and now they make great coaster for the nightstand!

LOL Nicole - great minds think alike!

Also Cara -- don't pinch. Press. Press your nipple into your breast and that will stop the milk from letting down & leaking. It sounds like you have a fantastic let-down reflex. That is awesome!

Lily Padz helped me too, girl. And I stopped having to wear them about 6 weeks after A was born. And yes, press. Now if I feel a leak coming on all I do is press on 'em and I'm good. Kinda odd to see as I stand in line at Target, but there you go.

I leaked for quite some time with my first, but it does eventually go away. With the second kid, it's not near as bad.

the fastest, cheapest way is to press down on the old nipples. if i was in public i would just cross my arms (cross your heart bra-stylee!) and press down with the heels of my hands for a few seconds. unlike the other ladies here, i didn't like the lily padz so much -- too sweaty!
